Dunbar Golf Club

Golf has been played at Dunbar for more than 400 years, although the current club was formed in 1856 when a 15-hole course was created. The layout gradually expanded before Old Tom Morris altered seven holes in 1894. James Braid and Ben Sayers later redesigned the course between 1922 and 1924.

Measuring just below 6,600 yards from the back tees, this course is a links masterpiece, as many of the challenging holes run directly beside the rocky shoreline. Firm fairways, deep bunkers and exposed greens mean the wind can dramatically change the difficulty of the course from day to day.

Dunbar golf club hosted the The Open Championship Qualifying and the European Tour PGA Championship in 1968. The course is ranked 37th in Scotland by Top 100 Golf Courses.
