Dundonald Links Golf Club

Originally known as Southern Gailes, the course was formed back in 1911 when Open Champion Willie Fernie designed the layout measuring around 6,700 yards, which was one of the longest courses in the country at the time. The site was badly affected by both World Wars and eventually fell out of regular golfing use. Loch Lomond Golf Club acquired the land in 2003 and commissioned Kyle Phillips, to design a completely new links course.

The par 72 course provides a modern interpretation of traditional Scottish links golf. Wide fairways are shaped by natural undulations, deep bunkers, gorse and thick rough, while parts of the course are unusually framed by pine trees. The large greens contain numerous slopes and run-off areas which make accurate approach play extremely important.

Dundonald links served as host for the Open Championship Final Qualifying, Scottish Open and Ladies Scottish Open. The course currently ranks 39th in the country on Top 100 Courses.
