Headfort- Championship Course

Headfort Golf Club was founded in 1928 with the old course being constructed into a 18 hole layout by 1956. In 1998 the members purchased additional land beside the River Blackwater and commissioned Ryder Cup player Christy O'Connor Junior to create a second eighteen-hole layout. The new course officially opened around 2000 and was later renamed the Championship Course.

The par 72 Championship Course stretches to around 7,100 yards and winds through mature woodland and alongside the River Blackwater. Water comes into play on numerous holes, while large trees, strategic bunkers and long par 4s provide a demanding unique challenge compered to the links courses across the country.

Currently ranking 32nd in Ireland by Top 100 Courses, The course has hosted the European Challenge Tour, including the Irish Challenge in 2019 and 2023.
