Killarney Golf & Fishing Club

The modern Killeen Course was then designed by Eddie Hackett and Billy O’Sullivan, officially opening in 1972. David Jones made further alterations ahead of the 1991 Irish Open before Donald Steel carried out a major reconstruction completed in 2006, introducing new greens, tees and bunkers while also adding additional length to the course.

Measuring 7,233 yards from the tips, The course is set within Killarney National Park and is surrounded by mature woodland, mountains and the waters of Lough Leane. Tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering and water hazards on almost every hole provides a very different golfing experience from the coastal links courses found elsewhere in Kerry.

Killeen is currently ranked 49th in Ireland by Irish Golfer and has one of the strongest tournament records of any inland course in the south west. It hosted the Irish Open in 1991, 1992, 2010 and 2011, as well as the 1996 Curtis Cup and the European Amateur Team Championship in 1975 and 2025.
