Luffness New Golf Club

Luffness New Golf Club was founded in 1894 following a disagreement over playing rights on Gullane Common. Henry Hope, who was the owner of the Luffness Estate, provided land for a new course entirely within his estate and the renowned architect Old Tom Morris was commissioned to design the layout.

Measuring close to 6500 yards from the tips, the links course has firm-running fairways, deep bunkers and fast greens. It is relatively flat compared with nearby Gullane but exposed coastal winds provide much of the difficulty, while strategically positioned hazards require golfers to carefully plan their way around rather than relying purely on distance.

Luffness may not have the rich history in hosting professional tournaments as nearby courses in the south east however it is a highly regarded links course, currently ranked 45th in Scotland by Top 100 Golf Courses.
