Malone Golf Club

Malone Golf Club was founded in Belfast in 1895 and played at several locations during its early history. In 1960 the club purchased the Ballydrain Estate near Dunmurry and created a new course on the extensive parkland surrounding Ballydrain House. The club moved to its present home in 1962, before further redesign work during the 1960s by CK Cotton and Fred Hawtree helped create the 27-hole complex played today.

Malone is a traditional parkland course set amongst mature trees, rolling terrain and a large natural lake which plays an important role on the closing holes. The main championship combination uses the Drumbridge and Ballydrain nines, creating a par 70 layout measuring around 6,700 yards. Strategic bunkering, narrow approaches and water hazards reward accurate shots.

Malone is currently ranked 37th in Ireland by Irish Golfer and is regarded as one of Northern Ireland’s leading inland courses. The club hosted the Irish Open in 1933 and has also staged numerous national amateur championships.
