Old Head Golf Links

The Old Head of Kinsale was acquired by brothers John and Patrick O’Connor in 1989 with the aim of creating a world-class golf course on the dramatic headland. Construction began in 1993, with a design team including Ron Kirby, Eddie Hackett, Joe Carr, Paddy Merrigan and Liam Higgins. The completed course officially opened for play in 1997.

Old Head Golf Course is a par-72 masterpiece that features five par-5s, five par-3s, and eight par-4s. The course ranges from 5,413 yards from the ladies' tees to over 7,100 yards from the championship tees. Nine holes run along dramatic cliff tops, while all 18 offer breathtaking ocean views. With dramatically changing sea breezes, the course delivers a challenging test for beginners as well as low-handicap serious golfers.

Its reputation is based more on its unique setting than tournament history which has resulted in the course currently ranking 25th in Ireland and Northern Ireland by Top 100 Courses.
