Portstewart Golf Club

Portstewart Golf Club was founded in 1894, with golf initially played on what is now the Old Course. As the club expanded, Willie Park Junior was involved in the early development of the Strand Course, while major improvements were later made by club member Des Giffin using the enormous natural dunes with seven new holes winding through the dunes open for play in 1992.

The Strand is a dramatic championship links with an opening nine that winds through some of the largest dunes in Northern Ireland. Rolling fairways, deep bunkers and undulating greens create the outstanding links experience, while elevated tees provide impressive views towards the Atlantic Ocean and the Donegal coastline.

Its biggest professional event was the 2017 Irish Open, won by Jon Rahm, while the course has also hosted The Amateur Championship, Irish Amateur Close, British Ladies Amateur Championship. The course is currently ranked 67th in Great Britain and Ireland by Top 100 Courses.
