Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club

The Ashdown Forest & Tunbridge Wells Golf Club (as it was originally known) was opened in 1889, and developed further between 1910-1920. To this day little has changed to the layout. Ashdown Forest itself is protected by an Act of Parliament meaning no alternations are allowed to the terrain, helping the course keep it's natural beauty.

The Old Course is a bunkerless heathland course that follows the hills and natural layout of the forest. Hazards include streams, hollows, narrow fairways and of course trees. The 6th, the Island Hole, is regarded as one of the best par 3's in England with a protected 'Island' Green. It is a course where being in the correct position rather than length is crucial.

The course is an Open Championship Regional Qualifying venue, and regularly ranked in the top 50 courses in England.
