Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club

Founded in 1892 and located in Deal, the clubs name came from the town's membership in the Cinque Ports. An ancient, medieval confederation of Southern English coastal towns that provided ships and men to defend the Crown in exchange for special tax and legal privileges.

Royal Cinque Ports (or Deal as it is commonly now known) was the 3rd English course to host The Open Championship. The course has a classic out and back routing, very similar to the old course at St.Andrews, but much narrower and more punishing. Regarded by many as an absolute 'brute' of a links course, with a back nine including what Gary Player described as 'the finest four consecutive holes on any course in the world."

The course hosted The Open on two occasions in 1909 and 1920. It is regularly ranked in the top 10 of England's Top 100 courses.
