The Old Course was the pioneering masterpiece on the Surrey/Berkshire sand-belt, which has since become a hub for top-tier golf courses. The land was crafted into a golfing gem by Willie Park Junior and opened to players in 1901. As the first secretary of the club Harry Colt made significant changes to the course notably moving the 4th, 7th and 12th green to where they remain today.
Sunningdale’s Old Course is renowned as one of the best inland courses in the British Isles known for its classic appeal and stunning scenery surrounded by tall pines, birches, and oaks, the course provides a peaceful yet challenging environment for golfers. The club's emblem, an oak tree, honors the impressive specimen tree standing proudly beside the 18th green.
The Old course at Sunningdale Golf Club frequently ranks top 30 in courses around the world and ranked 2nd in top 100 courses in England for 2025. The old course has held the Curtis Cup, Senior Open Championship and the Women's British Open.
