Back to Dublin & East Ireland

The Island Golf Club

In 1890, ten founding members established the course on isolated linksland that for the first 83 years was only accessible by boat. The course was completely reorientated after a new clubhouse opened in 1973, with Fred Hawtree, Eddie Hackett and later Martin Hawtree contributing to the redesign before Mackenzie & Ebert carried out further changes in 2019.

The course sits amongst some of the largest natural dunes on the east coast of Ireland and is surrounded by water on three sides of the course. Narrow fairways, deep bunkers, large dunes and firm greens provide a challenging traditional links experience, while several holes wind through narrow valleys.

The course has previously hosted the Irish Ladies Amateur Championship, Irish Amateur Open and Irish PGA Championship. The course ranked 49th in Great Britian and Ireland by Top 100 Courses.
