The Old Course at Walton Heath has been a mainstay in the World’s Top 100 rankings since they were first published in 1938. Crafted by designer Herbert Fowler in 1904, the course is known for its challenges that require golfers to employ a diverse range of shots. The club appointed 5 times open championship winner James Braid to be its first club professional, representing the club for over 45 years.
With its longer layout, players will find that “Scottish shots” come into play more often in this stunning Surrey location. Once you reach the greens, you’ll notice they are expansive, quick, and consistently challenging. This championship course is a par 72 that stretches to 7,174 yards, but for a more accessible round, it offers a shorter distance of 6,722 yards from the daily tees. The initial six holes are particularly demanding, presenting one of the toughest starts you'll encounter on any course.
The course was used for several famous golf competitions like the 1981 Ryder Cup where team USA beat team Europe, 2023 AIG Women's Open and the 2018 British Masters.
