Waterville Golf Links

Golf at Waterville Links was recorded back in 1889, although the course later declined before being revived in the early 1970s. Eddie Hackett, John A. Mulcahy and former Masters Champion Claude Harmon were responsible for creating the modern layout, which opened in 1973. Later renovations were made in 2006 to improve the flow of the two nine hole by Tom Fazio.

The course can stretch beyond 7,300 yards and combines low-running links terrain with larger dunes and exposed coastal holes. Firm fairways, deep bunkers and strong Atlantic winds provide constant challenges, especially when the back nine moves closer to Ballinskelligs Bay.

Although it has not hosted many major professional championships, it has a strong reputation of being a fine links course ranking 7th in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
